Economic advantages of CP-SAGD
CP-SAGD source of energy is the end-of-life thermal energy stored in in-situ thermal oil sands reservoirs. CP-SAGD uses Organic Rankine Cycle technology that converts low-temperature heat sources into mechanical energy, which can be used to produce electrical energy in a closed system. Such power plants are inexpensive and quick to be installed. It is shown that the CP-SAGD to have the lowest levelized cost of energy.
Payback Period
The Payback Period shows how long it takes for CP-SAGD to recoup the investment. The payback period for a specific project is estimated at about 2.7 years.
Cost Comparison with other Energy sources
Following costs are not associated with each type of plant:
•Long-distance transmission connections to grids
•The effect of CO2 emissions
•Environmental concerns with electricity generation
• Various human health concern
